Carlos

Swainson's Hawk

Carlos was admitted to the Raptor Center in the summer of 2006 as a fledgling. At some point in his early development, his right wrist had been damaged. Birds of prey grow to their full size very quickly, so his wrist healed as he grew. Unfortunately, it did not heal well enough for Carlos to return to the wild.

Because of his permanent disability, Carlos became a Raptor Ambassador in 2007. He has worked ever since to educate countless visitors about the majestic Swainson’s Hawk.
