Make Your Child's Summer a Summer to Remember! Summer camp! So many of us look back with the fondest memories of going to summer camp. We at MPEC believe that every child deserves a summer camp experience. And we are really looking forward to our 2012 summer of camps. To our menu of terrific camps, such as Survival, Mountain Man and Pathways, we are so excited to be adding the new Mountain Adventure Camp (details below). For the past dozen summers, we have had the privilege to create camps that bring children and Nature together in a multitude of shapes and sizes. The recent completion of dormitory rooms in the East Wing of the Horseshoe Lodge, complete with brand new bunks and linens, is only going to make MPEC camps better. Transportation from Pueblo included, and scholarships are available. We will be opening our registration on the 1st of January, 2012 so don't hesitate to sign up before spots are filled! Don't wait - spots are limited! NEW! Mountain Adventure Camp (4th - 6th graders): During this five-day residential camp, campers will enjoy hiking, playing nature games, team building on our new challenge course, arts and crafts, and lots more exciting activities. We will spend our days in Pueblo Mountain Park and our nights in the newly remodeled East Wing of the Horseshoe Lodge. Transportation & all meals included. Dates: June 25 - 29 or July 23 - 27. Cost: $375 Little Kids Camp (for children entering K through 2nd grade): During this half day camp, kids will participate in gentle hikes, nature games, nature music and stories. Parents Welcome! A great way to introduce your family to the Pueblo Mountain Park! 8am - 12:30. Dates: June 19 - 22 or July 31 - August 3. Cost: $60. Wonders of Nature Day Camp (3rd-4th graders): Hike, explore, and play Nature games in the mountain park with MPEC naturalists. 8am - 3pm. Dates: June 11 - 15 or July 9 - 13 Cost: $130 Survival Camp (5th - 6th graders): During this 3-day / 2-night camp, gain knowledge of the basics of surviving in the woods with minimal tools and technology. Learn about things like water purification, stalking prey, fire building, and sleep in a shelter you build yourself! Dates: July 17 - 19 Cost: $240 Backpack Camp (6th-9th graders): This camp is designed for young people with a love for Nature and physical activity. Participants will carry the food and gear they need down the South Creek trail through some of the wildest country in the area. Dates: July 10 - 12. Cost: $275 Camp Mission: Wolf (6th - 9th graders): This 3-day / 2-night program is a service learning camp where participants spend time with the resident wolves of the Mission: Wolf Sanctuary while helping them through a service learning work project. Participants help in the daily care of the wolves! Hear the wolves howl!!! Dates: June 19 - 21. Cost: $260 Girls Only: Mountain Pathways for Young Women (6th - 9th graders): In this popular award winning "girls only" camp led by an all-female team, girls will participate in outdoor activities like ropes course, hiking, rock climbing and rafting and have open discussions on many topics, including body image and choice-making. Dates: July 31 - Aug 2. Cost: $250 The Birds & the Bees & the Flowers & the Trees (6th - 9th graders): In collaboration with the Pueblo City/County Health Dept, this fun and empowering 3-day residential camp, led by an all-female team, combines Nature activities like hiking and a campfire circle with activities and lessons designed to give young women the information they need to make informed and healthy decision about their bodies, relationships, and future. Dates: July 20 - 22; Cost: $75 (balance of this $400+ program funded by the Health Department, MPEC members & the Nurturing Life Foundation). Boys Only: Mountain Man Discovery Camp (6th - 9th graders): Led by an all-male team, boys will participate in several outdoor activities like ropes course, hiking, rock climbing and rafting to open discussions on what it means to be a responsible man in the 21st Century, particularly as it relates to teen pregnancy issues. Dates: June 12 - 14 or July 16 - 18. Cost: $180 (balance of this $400+ program funded by MPEC members and the Nurturing Life Foundation). |

Winter Break Day Camp: $120 (3-5th Graders) Looking for something fun and exciting for your child(ren) to do between Christmas and New Year? Why not send them to our day camp Tuesday, December 27 - Friday, December 31 from 8am - 3pm. We will be having lots of fun playing in Pueblo Mountain Park hiking and playing games daily. Transportation from Pueblo provided. Pick-up at 8am and drop-off at 3pm at the Pueblo Raptor Center. Spring Break Day Camp: $130 (3-5th Graders) Let's play in the woods! March 26 - 30 we are offering some fun in Pueblo Mountain Park. This camp offers survival skills, outdoor games, snow play (weather permitting) and hiking daily. Transportation from Pueblo provided. Pick-up at 8am and drop-off at 3pm at the Pueblo Raptor Center. |
